44 etched plates of landscape paintings, and a further 6 plates, each of six portraits of artists, title and text in English and French; 104pp; one of the portrait plates with a crease, a few plates with slight spotting in margins, 4 plates slightly affected by waterstaining in margins.
An excellent set of landscape prints after Old Masters, which would have provided connoisseurs with images of pictures in Continental collections. Little is know of the fine German engraver J.L.L.C. Zentner [fl. 1780-1804] who was working in Paris in the 1780s, and was in London in the 1790s. This work was issued in parts which explains why some of the plates are dated after the date on title. The ESTC lists only 4 copies in the UK and suggests the text may be by the publisher. John Thane [1747?-1818] was a dealer in prints, medals and manuscripts.
