Johann Carl Kraaft [1764-1833] produced a number of similar volume on European architecture. The plates provide well drawn and detailed plans of the gardens as well as including illustrations of garden houses, hermitages, fountains, sheep folds, dovecotes, aviaries, etc. Bound from 12 'cahiers' the illustrations are numbered to 96, the double-page and folding plates counting as more than one illustration. Each cahier is a section of plates with letterpress description and keys to the plates. The annotations were made before the book was bound. This volume includes plans of Stowe, Potsdam and Clichy.
