Approx 45 photographic illus., 185pp.
This interesting biography by one of Lawrence's few close women friends, whom he got to know when her husband was his commanding officer at R.A.F. Mount Batten, the Flying-Boats Base near Plymouth, was first published in 1940. It was illustrated from photographs, some showing Lawrence and Clare Sydney Smith in the "Biscuit", the speedboat they used to use to make trips up the Tamar and around Plymouth harbour. Subsequent editions of "Golden Reign" did not include these illustrations. The original vintage prints have survived, and can therefore be reproduced to the highest quality, unlike those in the first edition which were poorly printed. A number of photographs which were not in the 1940 book are also included.
